Development Process

Developing a public website follows these principles:

  • Content is King
  • Form follows function
  • Keep it simple

Understanding what you have to offer your targeted visitors is the most important part of the development process. Once that's established, we'll work out a design to clearly present your content - not only to website visitors but also to the all important search engines.

Simplicity and it's first cousin - speed - are important considerations when designing the presentation. People on a website may click away as quickly as they came.

Offering them what they came for quickly and conspicuously is the key to attracting people and search engines to your website.

Open Links Add-on for Firefox

Open Links puts a button on the status bar. After doing a Google search and clicking the Open Links button, it opens the first 10 links on the results page in 10 new tabs allowing you to easily look through the top Google search results.

Little Links for Loooong URL's

Tired of those long links that are too cumbersome to email to someone else?
Help is here. Paste your long link in the form on http://littlelink.webtrouble.com/ and you'll get an easy to use Little Link.

Personal Notes

Personal Notes is a Drupal module I've written which allows registered members to create and delete notes that are viewable only by them, on a block. The administrator can assign permissions for both of these to user roles. There is a theme file for the block as well as a CSS file.

How accurate is Wikipedia?

According to a 2005 study in the eminent scientific journal Nature, Wikipedia is about as accurate as the Encyclopedia Britannica.
